Risk Assessments
A risk assessment is a formal examination of what could cause harm in a given work activity, who might be harmed, and what steps should be taken to reduce the risk. Under UK health and safety law, all employers must carry out suitable and sufficient risk assessments for the work their employees carry out.
Outsource CAD produces task-specific and generic risk assessments for construction, engineering, and maintenance activities. Each risk assessment identifies the hazards, assesses the likelihood and severity of harm using a risk matrix, and sets out the control measures required to bring the risk to an acceptable level. All risk assessments are produced in line with HSE guidance and can be formatted to your company template.
Common risk assessments we produce include:
- Working at height — scaffolding, MEWPs, ladders, and roof work
- Excavation and groundworks
- Manual handling and lifting operations
- Use of plant, machinery, and power tools
- Confined space working
- Hot works — welding, cutting, and grinding
- Electrical installation and maintenance
- Demolition and strip out
- Working near buried services and utilities
- Mechanical and electrical installation works
Method Statements and RAMS
A method statement describes step by step how a specific task will be carried out safely on site. It is used alongside a risk assessment as part of a RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statement) pack, which is a standard requirement from principal contractors before any trade or specialist contractor begins work.
Outsource CAD produces clear, practical method statements written for use by site supervisors and operatives — not just for compliance purposes. We describe the sequence of operations, the plant, equipment, and materials to be used, the competencies required, the supervision arrangements, and the emergency procedures specific to the task.
Our RAMS packs include:
- Task-specific risk assessment with hazard identification and control measures
- Step-by-step method statement describing how the work will be carried out
- Supporting diagrams or annotated drawings where required
- PPE requirements and site rules
- Emergency contact information and first aid arrangements
- Review, approval, and operative sign-off pages
We produce RAMS packs to your company template and format, ready to submit to the principal contractor. Fast turnaround is available for time-critical projects — contact us to discuss your requirements.
Health & Safety Plans
Construction Phase Plans (CPP)
A Construction Phase Plan is a legal requirement under CDM Regulations 2015 for all construction projects. It sets out how health and safety will be managed throughout the construction phase, covering site management arrangements, welfare facilities, emergency procedures, and the control measures for key project risks.
Outsource CAD produces CDM-compliant Construction Phase Plans for principal contractors and CDM coordinators. We work from your project information, pre-construction information, and site-specific details to produce a CPP that meets the requirements of the regulations and is ready for submission or issue to the client.
Fire Safety Plans
Fire safety plans document the fire strategy for a building or site, showing escape routes, assembly points, fire door locations, extinguisher positions, and alarm call points. Outsource CAD produces fire safety plans for commercial, industrial, and residential properties, working from existing floor plans or architect's drawings.
Traffic Management Plans
Traffic management plans are required on most construction sites to safely manage the movement of vehicles and pedestrians. Outsource CAD produces traffic management plans showing vehicle routes, pedestrian walkways, site access and egress points, delivery areas, and segregation measures — suitable for use as part of a Construction Phase Plan or as a standalone site safety document.
Emergency Evacuation Plans
Emergency evacuation plans clearly set out the procedures for evacuating a building or site in an emergency. We produce clearly annotated plans showing escape routes, assembly points, and the responsibilities of key personnel, suitable for display on site and inclusion in health and safety documentation packages.
Health & Safety CAD Drawings
Alongside our documentation services, Outsource CAD produces the full range of health and safety CAD drawings required to support site safety management and compliance. Our drawings are produced in AutoCAD and delivered as DWG and PDF files, formatted to your drawing standards.
Health and safety CAD drawing services include:
- Fire evacuation and escape route drawings for buildings and sites
- Signage location plans — mandatory, warning, prohibition, and emergency signs
- Access control and safety zoning diagrams
- Traffic management and construction logistics drawings
- CDM documentation drawings — pre-construction information and construction phase layouts
- Site induction drawings and annotated site plans
- General arrangement drawings with safety zoning and exclusion zones marked
